The Competency Based program is structured for the Hair Design, Nail Care, and Esthetics courses



In Oregon, there are two types of Cosmetology schools. Competency Based and Hourly Based.

The Competency Based Program allows students the ability to demonstrate that they are "competent" through academic and practical testing to accelerate in the training sooner than the traditional clock hour program.



Portland Beauty School's Competency Based program is approved and licensed through the Oregon Dept. of Education.



Students requiring additional training will be required and/or allowed to remain in their training for the maximum clock hours.



Students requiring additional training beyond the maximum time will NOT be required to pay additional tuition fees (for up to 3 months). We are dedicated to your education.
